Old, used glasses are given a second life in Indonesia this way.
People with vision problems who cannot visit an ophthalmologist, let alone afford glasses, are screened by an ophthalmologist.
They can then be fitted with glasses that meet their prescription.
If they enjoy the fitting and can read a book well again, they can take the glasses home with them.
We have already helped many elderly people with glasses.
One elderly person commented: "I can read again. I love doing it! But it's been so long since I was able to do that.".
